Christy Howard is a Detroit-based singer/songwriter whose diverse musical background, combined with her smooth and sultry vocal style, gives her a unique sound. She sings with the soul of the Gospel, the harmonies of Bluegrass, the rowdiness of a Mississippi juke-joint, and the finesse of an Austin Blues Club. Her vocals sound like a blend of June Carter Cash and Bonnie Raitt. Her original music ranges from Chicago-Style Blues and Blues-Rock, to Outlaw-Country and Southern-Rock that sounds like Buddy Guy meets Lynyrd Skynrd or Hank III.
Christy draws on her long career in the seedy music business for her lyrics, which deal with cheating, mistreating, gambling, drinking, and other debauchery familiar in the Blues. Onstage, Christy is Johnny Cash reincarnated as a woman. She fronts a five-piece band that features Detroit Blues legend and Rock guitar pioneer Billy Davis. With over 50 years in the entertainment business, and a prolific songwriter, Billy is well known for his work with Hank Ballard & The Midnighters. Billy is also known as the man who gave Jimi Hendrix his first stratocaster, and was a close personal friend until Hendrix’s untimely death in 1970.
Be prepared for a blues journey like you've never heard before...
